Hi jj,
Furosemide should be giving at a dose of 1-4 mg/kg
two to three times a day. It is a lot easier to use the liquid
version instead of the 20 mg tablets. Thus a 1/4 tablet just once
a day is not good. A 1/8 of tab two times a day would be ok,
but three times a day may work better.
The second medicine that can be used is Enalapril. This
medicine is giving at 0.25 to 0.5 mg/kg once a day to once
every other day.
The third medicine that can be used is digoxin 0.005 to 0.01
mg/kg once to twice a day.
I would recommend reading Dr Williams article about feeding
sick ferrets with baby food (chicken or turkey) or Hill's a/d at
his website (www.afip.org/ferrets/babyfood.html)
Hope this helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
