Furosemide is an excellent med for controlling ascites or edema.

I can't recall if it can be given with oil or not. A pharmacist will know. If it can be given crushed with an oil treat that may work.

Compounding is another option. If you look in the References Shelf portion of the Files section at

you will be able to see if there is a compounding pharmacy near you which does vet meds.

I have seen ferrets who are extremely ill with cardiomyopathy turn around for a decent length of time when they had the right meds for their particular heart needs: Enacard, Digoxin, etc.
