You have to remember that most who wind up with canine distemper in their households don't talk about it publicly (though some of us sure hear about it privately). Those with it hitting their families tend to often feel terrible guilt due to it being so often preventable so they usually don't talk openly, and the shelters who have been through it sometimes fear that no one will adopt any of their ferrets any longer so they don't usually talk about it publicly. There is a stigma to it, but actually speaking more openly could help save ferret lives from this fatal illness.

There is not a stigma to talking about vaccine reactions. Remember, though, that very few vaccine reactions wind up fatal. Even the vast majority of anaphylactic reactions are survived with proper treatment.
