Subject: vet posts on Canine Distemper and Vaccines

Most of this post is a list of past FHL VET POSTS on Canine Distemper.
Remember the irony that the more ferret families there are which are
vaccinated the fewer cases of CD exist so that also can skew the
perceptions. Still, if risk assessment interests you scroll down to
an FHL vet post URL below which I've put a 2 paragraph note, and open
that URL to see #10.
It became obvious that a large number of people would be helped by
having these resources at hands.
Consider DATES in relation to these posts when posts clash because
existing best information increases and therefore can change over
time. Vet replies at the list and the archives extend over about 4
years and several months.
There are also some excellent ones in the FML Archives. Dr. Kemmerer-
Cottrell has written some absolutely marvelous ones there! For example:

Oh, well, I will still go to trouble of finding the ones that I can
find because they will greatly help those who take the seconds needed
to open them and skim for needed info. BTW, some of the oldest posts

It isn't talked about openly much but it sure does happen!
I strongly *suspect* that this list is based upon multiple factors
including rate and severity, rather than on rate alone, but if not
many people were vaccinating then rate would be higher. Never-the-
less, it does happen, and the risk of rate increases goes up with
fewer vaccinations.
There are studies of how risk assessment assumptions of frequency are
thrown off by what is often reported in the media -- something which
is also part of a great article in the June 2005 Scientific American
on overblown perceptions and overblown claims about the "obesity
epidemic". I think that assumptions also get thrown off in the same
way by how often people PUBLICLY discuss certain experiences.) *****
