Subject: Ferret Anemia - Copper in Liver (?)

To further confuse the situation the final path report came in today and the Left Adrenal which was removed did show as a large tumor.

The "suspicious lump" that the surgeon removed from her abdomen turned out to be "random necrotic tissue". He said that this is not all that unusual. (??) And would have been absorbed by her if he hadn't removed it.

He also took a tiny slice of liver and that came back showing a copper toxicity that is being further explored and they will issue a final report later.

He said that there was nothing to worry about in the coppy toxicity but as this is the first time that I had ever heard of this (likely because it is the first time anyone has ever done a "tiny snip of the liver" on one of my ferrets) I thought I would pass it through here.

Is it something I should worry about? And can anyone tell me how in the world she could get coppy toxicity? It isn't like she's licking copper pipes. Far as that goes I'm pretty sure we don't even HAVE copper pipes.

I'm still treating her for an estrogen-shut down on her bone marrow (epogen, etc) but could copper have anything to do with this?
