Subject: Put yellow ferret in sun?

Hi everybody!

I just have to ask this.

My friend’s little ferret had her left adrenal removed on Monday.

She is eating and drinking well but Tuesday she started to turn yellow on her tummy and across her shoulders.

The doctor said not to worry and watch her, since she is drinking ok.

Next day she was yellow all over and she went back to the vet.

Received fluids and blood test. Doc can’t figure out why she’s yellow, blood tests came back "ok" which I assume meant that kidney and liver values are fine.

She was told to put her out in the sun for about 30 minutes( not sure if once a day or several times now) and continue giving her fluids.

Ok, have no problem with the fluids but putting her in the sun is a first for me. Have you all ever heard of this? ( I do want to make it clear that she’s not being put out in the hot sun, so don’t worry about that ! )

What could be causing her to turn yellow after surgery if the liver and kidney values are normal?

So, I probably just learned something new about putting a yellow ferret in the sun but I would sure feel better to get you all’s opinions on this and hopefully some advice on why she is turning yellow.

Thank you all,

Helga
