Hi, everyone,

Nyssa continues to hang in there. Our new NC vet
(formerly our backup vet) made a decision to move her
from vetalog to longer lasting depo medrol for the
second cortisol (steroid) seems to have helped quite
a bit. We rarely have to give her pain killers at the
moment. She is mostly low energy but she still has
good days now and again.

The lymphoma continues to progress and invade her
internal organs. Time is limited but... Nyssa is now
in her seventh month since diagnosis, the longest
we've had a ferret live with this disease, and she
doesn't seem ready to go anywhere just yet. On good
days she explores, moves her beloved stuffed doggie
(and defends it if necessary), and gives kisses.
She's still dominant alpha despite Ella and Zephyr
periodically challenging her.

Nyssa seems to be a poster child for pulling out all
the stops with medication other than chemo in an older
ferret with lymphoma/lymphosarcoma.

All the best,
Caity and the fantastic five
