Hi. We noticed last night that on of Riley's back paws was red and swollen. My son thinks he stepped on his foot on Wednesday (or maybe Tuesday, you know how teenagers are) He said he thought he stepped on him when Riley tried to race him tot he door, but when he picked him up hed didn't see anything, and Riley didn't act hurt, so he figured he was wrong. So of course he didn't mention it to us untill we noticed the swollen foot last night and asked.

We didn't see the swelling until last night, and we hold and play with the ferrets every day, so I think we would have noticed it earlier if it had been there. He is walking (and jumping around) just fine, and will let us check out his foot. My husband thinks he may have a broken toe, but doesn't want to take him to the vet, and he figures they can't do anything for it anyways. I just want to know how worried we should be, and what we need to watch out for. This morning it seemed less swollen. Last night we saw it after he had been wrestling and jumping around, so maybe that was why it was so swollen then. This morning I woke him up so I could check on him before I went to work.

Any advice on what to look out for would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rosa
