My advice would be to take him to the vet. Being red and swollen is never a
good thing and your vet will probably want to put him on antibiotics to make
sure it doesn't get infected, broken toe or not. Animals react differently to
pain because showing that anything is wrong is the animal kingdom makes them
easy targets, so they do not show it like we do.
