I have been to pet stores where the kits are various
ages and the birth certificates have gotten mixed up.
If the sales person isn't normally in charge of the
ferrets and can't find a birth certificate that's
close, they give out any birth certificate. (I've seen
it happen.)
On the other hand ferrets do grow quickly and at three
months can be getting close to full size. My males
have all topped out at 3 pounds though.
