Subject: thymoma?
Message-ID: <20050602.100943.2200.38.kazpat1@juno.com>

I am not a vet. A thymoma just means tumor of the thymus. Biopsy would
say if it is malignant or benign ( although due to the location
of the thymus in the chest, it is probably easier said than done).
In humans a benign mass can be removed
and that is the treatment.

I would wonder about the diagnosis, only because if just by a Chest xray,
and
especially if a young ferret, the more common cause of a mass in the
chest
or thymus is lymphosarcoma. I only say the young ferret because
apparently
the juvenile form of lymphosarcoma is more rapid and often has no signs
until the ferret is breathing fast and a chest xray picks up the mass.
