Blade is a 5 year old ferret that came into our rescue in Feb of 2004. When he came in, we thought he was suffering from shelter shock because he got severely depressed, stopped eating and even lost the strength in his hind legs. The vet did an exploratory surgery on him and found nothing really obvious, he thought the liver looked a little more yellow than it should be, but nothing to indicate his behavior so we contributed it to shelter shock. Over the year, Blade has exhibited some strange behaviors, like seperation anxiety, if you even so much as move his cage or anything in it, he gets upset and stops eating.

Nothing has changed much in way of routine, but last month Blade started staggering and would just flop over. We checked his glucose and doc said it was within normal range. One day, I found Blade laying with his head hanging out of his hammy and he was drooling, sign of insulinoma right?? Well, I thought he was in a coma because he wouldn't move and his body was getting very cool to the touch. He came to but was very lathargic. We rushed him to the vet and the doc said that he was fainting. They did a blood work up on him and all the vet could tell me was that he is anemic and has some kind of cancer. Here are the results of his blood work.

I cant make any sense of any of this and I don't like just hearing that he has cancer!!
