Actigal has traditionally been used for bile sludging and now these days it
is being used for liver disease too. There is little sited on use in
ferrets but I currently have 2 on it. One had biliary obstruction with bile
sludging and keep him on a maintence dose and have for over a year now and
he is doing very well, no side effects or problems. The other has liver
cancer. I removed a lobe of her liver and it came back hepatocellular
carcinoma, It was difficult to get the jaundice to resolve in her but we
finally did and she is on actigal, milk thistle and SAMe (that we just crush
in her gruel, tru it may not be stable for long but it also doesn't hurt).
After her diagnosis I had doctors say "and she is still alive", yes she is
and doing fairly well. Path report believed cells to margins and we are
still okay so far and we are over 6 months out. So no I do not think it
would hurt it would only help and even though the girl I did seemed week and
unstable, we went in figured it was our best chance and she was over 8years
old, we knew she may not come out but it all came out well. Hope this
helps. I just use the cat dose of actigal and compound it into a liquid.
best to you.
