Hi Ada,
My niece's ferret had adrenal disease and didn't lose hair in any one
particular spot. Her hair was actually thinning all over. Other than that
her appetite was good, and she was very active. I didn't think it was
adrenal, since she was so young and wasn't losing hair in the typical hind
leg fashion. I just thought it might be something environmental. We took
her to the vet who confirmed it was adrenal. Fortunately she was a good
candidate for surgery and all went well with that.
Could still be adrenal even when they aren't losing hair in the "usual"
areas. I wouldn't rule it out. Your vet should be able to correctly
diagnose.
