Thought I might add to this:
Revolution for dogs available in the USA protects against ticks, but Revolution for cats apparently doesn't (according to revolution4dogs.com & revolution4cats.com).
Neither the dog or cat Revolution available in Australia protects against ticks (www.revolutionpet.com.au).
