Hi all,
I've been through the archives of this group but haven't been able to find =
anything that resembles what my poor little Nike is going through. He's an =
8-year-old sterling silver mitt with a horrible tummy problem. When we got =
home last night we found him covered in blood; an immediate bath revealed n=
o wounds of any sort so we decided he must have vomited it up. He seemed to=
be doing ok after that, ran around the house as usual, but around 11:00pm =
he started throwing up a mucus-y pinkish substance. I=92m guessing the pink=
color comes from blood? He vomited about 4 or 5 times before settling down=
and going to sleep; we immediately called our vet=92s emergency line when =
this all started and were advised that because of Nike=92s age there is not=
hing we can do and we should just try to make him as comfortable as possibl=
e. I=92m not convinced that the vets in our area are comfortable with ferre=
ts =96 they=92re wonderful with cats and dogs but I think the fuzzies confu=
se them. Anyway, this morning when I got up Nike seemed to be fine, terrori=
zed the cats as usual and ran all over the house. But about 20 minutes ago =
(around 9:00am), just after he had his few drops of FuroTone, he started vo=
miting again. He is also grinding his teeth in-between vomit attacks, and i=
s extremely lethargic. I=92m afraid he=92s becoming dehydrated as well. Rig=
ht now he=92s sleeping in his hammock but I=92m scared that I=92m going to =
lose him. My mum has gone out for pedialyte to combat the dehydration. Does=
this sound familiar to anyone? Could it be ulcers? Has there ever been a c=
ase of a bad reaction to FuroTone? I=92m really worried about Nike; I know =
he=92s old but I want to help him if I can. He=92s already mostly bald, has=
a chordoma on his tail, and has a few mast cell tumors, but other than the=
recent bout of vomiting he seems to be doing well. If anyone has any ideas=
please let me know ASAP (megan.a.learman@uwrf.edu). Thank you very much!!!=
