I don't mean to show my ignorance... but I'd rather be ignorant than stupid, because information cures ignorance. :)
You said: "Ferrets are descended from the dog branch of Carnivora, BTW." I thought I remembered that ferrets were susceptable to the feline form of distemper, not the canine version. Am I remembering wrong, or is this disease something that isn't affected by the genetic background/relationships between species?
