Hi, Jamie, and everyone else,
An enlarged spleen is not the only possible
explanation. Some infections and tumors could cause
the same hard feeling. So, yes, you definitely need
to get her to the vet. This list is no substitute for
a good ferret vet.
Is this common? Yes. If she is otherwise healthy
your vet may want to do surgery to remove her spleen.
Our vet at the time said if Kodo was younger when his
spleen grew huge he would have removed it. Kodo was
nine at the time and also had insulinoma and we just
didn't think he'd make it through surgery.
