Sounds like your vet sees alot of overweight ferrets :) Females weight ranges are 1 - 3lb and males range from 2 - 5 lbs. There are many more overweight ferrets than normal size ones, so be careful about why you want to put extra weight on them. Ferrets are supposed to be very sleek, slender creatures.

Like Mike said, if this is normal for them, then I would not be concerned.
