I'm not really sure about his swelling and itching, but his first symptoms sounded just like two of ours here in So.Cal. that ended up dying after trying treatment for everything possible. They had the same exact symptoms, where on the same meds and the first got better for about 6 months but then relapsed and died. The second never got better and died about 3 months into treatment when for some reason his stomach filled with fluid. But the vets never could figure out what was wrong from x-rays or bloodwork. I hope yours gets better, you'll be in our thoughts.
