Subject: broken front fang-tooth

My 6 1/2-year old female, Lucy, (2.6 pounds) was just in a fight with a
3-month old ferret (nearly 3 pounds) that I'm integrating into the business.

Lucy's right fang tooth is broken and is sideways--horizontal to the
floor--across the little teeth in the front of her mouth. It was bleeding,
but does not appear to be now.

She's clawing at her mouth and periodically cries out, but doesn't seem to
be in a lot of pain. She is uncomfortable--moving from one hiding spot to
another. She seems upset with this tooth, pushing at it with her tongue and
clawing at it, gagging at times as though she's choking.

When I put her down, she walks about, apparently in little distress.

It appears that she won't be able to chew on anything until it's removed.

It's 10:30 p.m. here. Can anyone advise on what I should do. eg: let her
work on it or should I intervene?--Or just wait until I can get her to a vet
in the morning.

Brief med/surgical history: Lucy has Insulinoma--half of her pancreas was
removed in May of 2004. She is on .25 Prednisone once daily. She is also
post bilateral adrenal surgery (11-2002), left by excision, right by
Cryosurgery. It is believed that her right adrenal is functioning again
and, therefore, has been on Lupron since November of 2004.

Thank you,
