More than a month ago my 3 year old neutered male Carmel started having hin=
d end weakness. When I went to the vet he felt something that could be an e=
nlarged spleen or something else, so he sent me and Carmel to the universit=
y for an ultrasound. They did that and took blood for a glucose and liver t=
est. The ultrasound only showed a slightly enlarged spleen according to the=
m, and when I got the blood results (12 days later and only because I calle=
d them myself, as I was worried) his glucose was 32, so, as they said, he m=
ust have insulinoma. Though I was not totally convinced as he had fasted fo=
r over 10 hours before the blood was taken, I put him on prednisolon immedi=
ately, and made an appointment with the vet for today, 9 days later, as I w=
anted to talk it over with him, because the weakness became worse, and kept=
getting worse. My vet agrees that this has nothing to do with insulinoma, =
and found he's getting more and more paralysed. His bladder is too full and=
poop is coming out by itself, he has no control over it. At this moment it=
's still a mystery to the vet too, and he's going to call the university to=
ask them to go over the ultrasound film again and concentrate on everythin=
g that can give more of an idea what we have to look for. He also said that=
in dogs this kind of thing is sometimes caused by a kind of auto immune di=
sease, which destroys the nerves, but that he'd never seen it in a ferret(y=
et). =

Has anyone here had a similar experience, or does one of the vets on the li=
st know what this can be ?
