Subject: Bone marrow/leukemia?
Message-ID: <1793532.1120335989127.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>
Sunday I noticed a significant weight loss, lethargy, and a pale/anemic look in my ferrets gums, ears & paws. She is only 1 1/2 years old. I know they are small and can go downhill quickly, but this was within 24 hours. I took her to my vet for blood work. Two different vets examined her and her lab work and said she has a bone marrow problem. Her white blood count is extremely low. They said there was nothing to do but keep her comfy and happy. It is now a week later, she is still with me...I have been feeding her water and Ferretvite to supplument her poor eating/drinking. She has little energy but still wants to play and move around. Has anyone had a similar problem? I would do anything if I thought it would help. Thanks, Michele
