I have two ferrets that are around 7 years old, and both have had adrenal issues for over a year. Because of their age and condition we opted not to do surgery and instead recently started melatonin. One is very skinny and gotten bald up to his ears, the others hair loss has continued as well even after the melatonin. The very bald one also gets weird sores on his body that I was told was due to hormones levels being wacky, and has got down a lot since the melatonin was started. They are still playful and happy- but look like they've been neglected because they are getting bonier despite giving supplements.
How long should this take to show some results? Can I expect the hair togrow back? Is it possible that my ferrets were too far along with adrenal problems that it won't even help now? Should the dosage be increased? How long do most ferrets live in this physical condition after starting the Melatonin?
My email is skippychunky@hotmail.com if anyone could give me more information or personal experiences with this. Thank you for reading!
