At the symposium vet session I asked about my 3 yr old MF, deaf, blaze, small opening mouth ferret, Titus.

It was said he probably had a partial blockage and exploratory surgery was the best option, though it could be IBD. So I asked if I could treat for IBD and if that didn't work then do the exploratory. I was suppose to get the protocol for IBD after the session but didn't. Can I get that protocol now? History below if you want to take a look.

At about 14 months old, he started lossing weight and grinding his teeth. He was diagnosed with Heliocobacter. Put on a 21 day regime.

Pepto-Bismol .25cc
Flagyl .40cc
Cimetidine .25cc
Amoxicillin .40cc

He responded well and gained weight and no more teeth grinding.

6 months after treatment the teeth grinding started again. He lost some weight but I caught it much quicker this time so he didn't loss much weight. He would grind his teeth at every meal. I started him on duck soup.(Chicken baby food, A/d mixed with 1 baby food jar of water so it is pretty thick). Treated for Heliocobater again but this time used Biaxin, Amoxi and carafate. After 14 days no real improvement. Took him off of Kibble completely and feed soup only while continuing regime another 21 days.(total of 5 weeks) Gave Biaxin 3 times a day instead of only twice. Biaxin 25mg/kg, three times a day), amoxicillin (can't remember the dosage)plus carafate. Kept him on soup only another 30 days without meds. He didn't really gain his weight back. Still a little thin but only about 10%.

Now it has been a year. He has basically stayed the same weight, 950 grams with some flucuation. I feed him soup once a day and kibble at will. Everytime I try and take with off of the soup within 2 days he is back to grinding his teeth. So we know he still has a problem. If I fed him soup twice a day he does better. So, with all this in mind it seems we are looking at a partial blockage. But Still want to try treating for the IBD first before going in. So, can I have the protocol now? Thanks in Bunches, Mary Jo
