Baytril is a Fluroquinolone. If I recall right from my weight lifting years that is one class of drugs we had to stop lifting when using. (We always had to stop with a systemic infection anyway that went beyond a mild upper respiratory infection, but I think this drug class made cartilage too unstable for moving serious iron around while it was still in the body.) it may pay to restrict extreme exercise during use with this one.

It looks like this drug works best on an empty or near empty stomach and that is may be one that needs shielding, but I don't know if that is just a taste thing or if there is a need for protection from saliva or water. You'd have to ask the pros unless one of us here can find it.

I recall the purple pill ones; couldn't place the non-injected form till I saw that description. One of our ferrets who had to have an amputation needed this drug. I recall clearly crushing it, mixing it very carefully dividing it into small screws of plastic wrap, shielding it from the light afterward, and giving the doses mixed into Nutrical. I also recall that even then it was hard to give, and I think I recall that this is one of the ones you can taste when you get it on your hands, so try a popsicle stick to give it. It does look like there is a new flavored version.

Notice that you have to be very careful with Carafate use when using this antibiotic orally. Space them widely apart.

(Oh, and as for general meds stuff, there are also meds -- like Prednisolone or like Prednisone which should be given with a decent bit of food. Meds vary all over the place for what can and can't be done with them. One size does not fit all.)
