I have a bachelor's degree in nursing. I've had my share of really bad bites with
abused rescues. I just washed the hand well with soap and water, kept antibiotic
cream on it and kept it as clean as possible. Ice to the affected area helps with pain
and swelling. By all means, make an appointment for a tetanus booster; not
because there is a high risk, but because it's a good idea to keep up to date. I never
went to the doctor with any of my bites because I'm an RN and know what to look
for in case of infection. I also don't want to risk the reporting thing either. I'm not a
doctor, so I won't give medical advice, just letting you know what my personal
practice is.

It's awkward to have a human medical question here since most people here do not
have a human medical background. Perhaps some of the ones who do will say
something and mention their qualifications. Meanwhile, remember that just as your
ferret-expert veterinary professional is tone one best equip to make vet care
choices for your ferrets, so, too, are your own human-health medical professionals
the best ones to decide about questions of your own health.
