Rocky and Harley, males, ages 5 and 4, have seedy, mucousy diarrhea and Rocky has a rash on his lower back, just above his tail. The vet said the stools were negative, but contained epithelial cells, indicating intestinal inflammation. The vet gave me Albon for the intestines, and Gentamicin topical spray for the rash on Rocky's back. I researched the list and the archive, and found that gentamicin can cause hearing and renal damage, but also Dr. Williams indicated that the topical is low dose and not easily absorbed. So is it safe to use the gentamicin topical spray?
