Any ferret can hit bone if it wants to but some old time ferreter were
never bothered about how fresh or what was fed to their ferrets. Smelly
road kill fox and crows can carry some interesting bacteria but it was
better than the old bread and milk diet. I've fed fresh road kill deer,
rabbits and squirrels to my dogs and ferrets for years without any
health problems. By fresh I mean I pick it up early morning after it has
been killed overnight. I would not be happy to collect carcases that
have been out in the heat all day. Chris.
