I have a little girl from a shelter that was given to me as they thought sh=
e was dying from lymphoma. I just wanted to give her quality of life for t=
he time she had left. She was diagnosed when they were doing a routine des=
exing which incidently they found had already been done. They noted that t=
he abdominal lymph nodes were about 10 times the normal size but the shelte=
r could not afford the histology, and ferrets to my knowlege are not treate=
d for lymphoma here anyway. I got Gypsie about 4 months after her surgery =
and she was not expected to live much longer but that was last september. =
After doing some research I put her on prednisone for about 3 months then w=
ithdrew her slowly. Since then, nothing. She is happy, playful healthy an=
d there is little to indicate there is anything wrong. I even thought they=
might have got their ferrets mixed up and rang the vet who did the surgery=
but Gypsie is extremely small (about 12 oz or 400 g) and there was no mist=
ake. She is now about 2 years old, so if it is lymphoma it would be the ag=
gressive juvenile variety and I would have expected her to succomb by now. =
She has pulled the heartstrings with her unique personality, I guess I am =
searching for answers that will give me hope. Could it have been something=
else?
