Two things come to mind with Heather:

1. Fluid buildup in the abdomen.
2. Hugely enlarged spleen.

The kind of rapid increase in size of the abdomen
makes me think fluid buildup. We saw this in Kodo at
the very end of his life. Depending on the cause your
vet may be able to drain the fluid and then treat the
underlying cause. In Kodo's case the underlying cause
was lymphoma, he was nine and a half or so, and he had
other medical issues including a huge spleen.
Hopefully Heather's prognosis will be better than
Kodo's was.
