Hi Heather,
>From your description it sounds like Regan
has a possible stomach ulcer. One can not
say 'pediapred is not working' without checking
the blood glucose. If the glucose level is still low then
increasing the amount of Pediapred to 1 ml, 2 times a
day is needed. I would also use Carafate about 10 minutes
before feeding her and before her pediapred to coat the stomach.
If the glucose is above 70, then it is just time to
treat for an ulcer by using Carafate about 10 minutes
before feeding her and before her pediapred. It would also be
a good thing to use a bland diet such as Hill's a/d or baby food
(second stage chicken and chicken gravy) to feed her 4-6 times
a day.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
