I lost my baby girl, pez, this past week, and I'm questioning the cause of her death. she was about a month post left adrenal surgery and had apparently recovered well. on wednesday, I found her lethargic, with hind leg weakness. I took her in and they were unable to get blood because her blood pressure was very low. they hydrated her and force fed her for 3 days, and I took her home in the evenings to do the same. they were finally able to get blood from her friday, but I did not get the results until monday, when she was already gone. the vet feels that it was liver damage of some kind, but could not be more specific, and I am just wondering if I could get some ideas on what it might have been.
her bloodwork showed that she was anemic, and that her platelets were clumped. here are the other values which were out of whack.
protein 3.9
albumin 2.0
alkaline phosphatase 56
AST 564
calcium 6.9
sodium 131
globulin 1.9
I am just trying to get some ideas on what may have taken her, as the vet had her opened up only a month ago and all looked good aside from her pancreas, which showed the beginnings of insulinoma. she went downhill very quickly and it frustrates me to not know what happened. she was 4.5.
thanks for any comments anyone might have!
