Hi, I wrote about two weeks ago *not even* about my ferret Cocoa's chordoma on her tail and was grateful to get a response. The reason I couldn't afford the amputation right away was because I had another sick ferret at home, Dakota, who had adrenal disease.
I am sad to say that Dakota passed away last Sunday. I am DEEPLY saddened by this, and heartbroken to say the least. Amidst all this chaos, ANOTHER problem has reared it's ugly head, my four year old ferret Precious now has a little patch of fur missing from the tip of her tail.
NOW, I'M FREAKING OUT!!
So what I'm asking you all for is some advice, does this sound like a simple case of "rat tail"!? It's just a little patch of fur missing from one side of her tail, NO WHERE ELSE, she eats/drinks/poops/urinates the same as usual, she is still very hyper and plays, and seems basically happy. I took a close up look at her tail a moment ago, and noticed a few blackheads, and that the little strands of fur that are replacing what fell out are kind of course and a lot lighter in color.
So what I'm wondering is does this sound like it's not really a problem?! Is it alright to just carry on and see if the fur grows back, and if it does assume all is well?! Has anyone had this problem and all was well?!
I would REALLY appreciate a response, I'm soooooooo scared this is going to be another case of the dreaded "A" disease that took my beloved Dakota from me last weekend. *I should mention that I knew he had adrenal disease because he had an enlarged prostate and a bald bum, two things that my little girl can't/doesn't have*.
Thank you for reading,
Chrissy
