Sorry to hear about Dakota. We lost Ollie a few years ago to adrenal with prostate problems before we knew the prostate could be involved... Anyway, our Cindy has a cut off appearance to the end of her tail as well. (I first noticed it when she was about 3-4 years old.) With her it is behavioral. I have actually seen her chewing the end off it when bored or stressed. Hopefully this is all it is with your Precious.
