I was wondering if anyone else has experienced their ferret not being able to
tolerate pediapred. My Cujo who is six was diagnosed with insulinoma but when
given the pred he gets violently sick to his stomach and lethargic. I've tried
dexamethasone but he doesn't seem to tolerate it very well either. For a while now
we've been controlling it with his diet and consistent feedings of the chicken baby
food. Right now he has become lethargic, vomiting occasionally, and just overall
acts like he doesn't feel good. He has a tendency to always always pick up any bug
that I might have and I was just ill a couple of weeks ago with similar symptoms. We
have him on antibiotics, carafate before feedings because he is grinding his teeth,
and have also been giving him sub q fluids when he refuses to eat. Last night he
was the worst we've seen and refusing to eat this morning. I gave him fluids and
about five hrs. later he ate really well and proceeded to steal the remote and take it
upstairs which
really wiped him out. He's still grinding his teeth and somewhat weak but better
than last night. I just checked his mouth and he doesn't appear to have any really
bad looking teeth.
