Proglycem is the non-generic of Diazoxide. Diazoxide (generic) is usually less expensive and easier to find.

Ferrets vary widely in how they respond to this medication. Some are greatly helped. We have never had one get to the point of not needing any Prednisolone, but have had one whose Prednisolone was able to be dramatically reduced in a ferret who actually needed that. For other ferrets the medication may as well be water. We've seen the full gamut of responses among individuals here.

We like to try a trial with a small amount from a compounding pharmacy since it is an expensive medication. (Oh, and we save the excess in a dark spot in the fridge for as long as the pharmacy says we can if it doesn't work for one just in case another may need it during that time. Usually that doesn't happen but once or twice it has been useful.)
