I agree with the other suggestion you received: get
him to a vet. Weight loss is such a non-specific
symptom that this could be anything.

For example we twice had unexplained weight loss with
Pertwee. Once it was an adrenal carcinoma (with
absolutely no other symptoms for quite a while) and
once it turned out to be chronic pancreatitis which
was treated with medication and diet. Both conditions
were absolutely treatable but both needed a vet's
intervention.

One thing I would do in the meanwhile is see if you
can get him to eat Bob Church's Chicken Gravy. See:
http://www.trifl.org/gravy.shtml It has done wonders
in putting weight on the weasels for us in the past.
Pertwee pretty much lived on the stuff for the last
three and a half years of his life.
