For us a veterinary peroxide shampoo and soft toothbrush has worked well when it is just fur loss with blackheads.

Like others we have encountered both ferrets who later went on to develop adrenal disease and others who did not (shown by necropsies).

We have noticed that among the rescue ferrets we have had higher chances of the tail baldness being related to adrenal disease. I suspect that the ready access to complete darkness which we always have available here is part of what keeps our adrenal disease rate low and onsets usually over age 5 (in recent years we are also using Spring Lupron shots), and look forward to further research being done on possible prevention of onset or its delay through the use of melatonin, Lupron, or Supreloran.
