But bread and milk are not. Those have played a part in the ferrets' diets=
for at least centuries.

Kibble actually is older than 20 years. I think that is searching I found =
the use here in farm ferrets 40 years ago, with possible earlier use.

All you need to do is the change the proportion of a given pertinent allele=
to affect an evolutionary change on a population. So, if you prevent a nu=
mber who get cystine stones from dying off especially if at the same time t=
hat you preferentially breed those ferrets for some other reason then you g=
et an evolutionary change in the population which carries an increased diet=
ary vulnerability. If you introduce a pressure (say failure to thrive with=
bread and milk as a large portion of the diet for centuries) you can intro=
duce a different change by having those ferrets die off.

Remember, too, that YEARS ARE NOT WHAT MATTER but NUMBER OF GENERATIONS DO=
MATTER as well as pressures. =
