Hi Mike, before the problems with our meat I used to chuck any old bones
and offal in with my pack. I was never very scientific about amounts or
proportions of bone/offal/meat. Their drinking water came out of the
filter of my koi pond and was probably safer for them than my tap water.
I'm sorry to say I'm really not happy with the coat or muscle tone of my
5 year olds from fancy stock. I've picked up a pair of 2 year old Albino
ferrets from working stock that were fed only on rabbit carcase. They
will never win any shows as they are yellowish and have coats like a
wirehair terrier but the bodies on these guys are amazing. They came
from an old countryman who probably has never even heard the words
"fancy coloured ferret". This year I am trying to get back to more meat
based diet. I've put the word out around my neighbours and now I'm
getting meat trimmings and chicken carcases brought round for the
ferrets, they had fatty beef trimmings last night. They are eating
better than I am. Chris.
