I have one ferret who has a "seasonal" allergy, although we have not been a=
ble to find out what the actual allergy is. His one hind foot was red, swo=
llen and lost all the hair. Pred (1ml once per day) was the only thing tha=
t did the trick. Tried weaning him off, but couldn't get him off of it for=
6 months. All of a sudden, we were able to wean him off. he also gets sl=
ightly red SKIN around (NOT IN) his right eye only - never his left - and h=
ave used triple antibiotic eye ointment WITH STEROID on the skin around the=
eye - not in the eye with great success. I occasionally see the foot star=
ting to get red again and have used Tresaderm liberally on the foot, which =
has also worked. Other things we tried before the steroids were DESITIN (f=
or diaper rash), although you need only a tiny amount and it is messy. But=
, it seems only the things with some steroid in it worked the best. I have=
never seen this on his stomach or any other area: only the one foot and a=
round his right eye and it goes and comes. Gail
