I have read that several of you have problems giving your ferrets
prednisone. I have found that, by far, the easiest to give is the
name-brand Pediapred liquid. I buy 4 oz. at the time at a human pharmacy
(with a prescription, of course). I have never had a ferret fight it.
Don't get any of the generics. Get the name brand. We have tried a couple=

of the generics and they hated it. I call a few days before and my
pharmacist orders Pediapred for me. It's a little more expensive than the
generics but worth it. I just refilled mine this week and the 4oz. bottle
was about $47. Depending on how many you have taking it, it lasts several
months. =

To dose it, I fix a soup that can be fed via syringe (baby food and A/D, or=

just baby food.both thinned with plain Pedialyte or water). Depending on
the amount of pred, I feed anywhere from 20-30mL (4-6t) of soup with each
pred dose. I syringe-feed about half of the soup, then about half of the
pred, and continue until both are gone. =

Phoebe recently had a major hypoglycemic seizure and spend 3 days in the
hospital getting her stabilized. I am now giving her larger doses of pred =
3
times a day, with soup. She sits there like a good girl and takes every bi=
t
of it.
