Not sure if either has anything to do with the other, but my ferret is 6 yrs and was recently diagnosed with Dilated Cardio. She is on Lasix, Benazepril and Digoxin. She also gets CoQ10 Enzyme, L-Carnitine, Taurine, a bit of Vit E & C, and 3V Caps HP
omega 3 fatty acids EPA/DHA with Vit E).
Bloodwork came back today with a wbc of 12.3 High (2.5-8.0). Other out-of-range values:
HCT 59 High (43-55)
MCHC 31 Low (32-35)
Alkaline Phos 10 Low (15-45)
BUN 38 High (10-33
Creatine 1.6 High (0.2-0.8)
Glucose 52 Low (80-120
Sodium 126 Low (140-160)
Potassium 3.2 Low (4.3-5.8)
She has a history of elevated Creatinine but now the BUN is high, which I guess could be caused by dehydration from the heart meds, and she does have Insulinoma, so no surprises there, but I am very worried about the high white count. I found past posts by vets that mention high white counts due to gastric disease, IBD and/or a gastric ulcer.
Does anyone know what else might be going on here or have any
ideas as to what to do next? I can't get her in to see anyone that knows about ferrets until next week, if then, and my Carafate RX is expired and there are no refills left.
Thanks.
