>From what I have read, there is a wide variety of
symptoms that come with insulinoma. Our Scooter began
frequently pawing at his mouth, as if something was
stuck in there. We took him to an, admittedly,
ferret-ignorant vet who treated him with an antibiotic
for stomach problems.
Then we typed up the symptoms and hit the internet
(1996). The first reply came from Pamela Greene at
Ferret Central and she, basically, saved Scooter's
life.
Anyhow, point is: don't write off insulinmoa until
you get your fuzzy tested.
We are trying to figure out the same thing on a
"temporary -care" boy, and have suggested to Sandman's
owners they have him get a blood test, again. His
occasional coughing fits are disturbing.
Interestingly, we give him Nutrical immediately and it
seerms to abate. That has us thinking inso.
Unfortunately our shelter's long-time vet recently
passed away and wer are currently looking for another
Seattle-area, ferret-savvy vet, to take him to. One
who knows insulinoma. We understand what you are going
through.
Anyhow, just an observation. There is no substitute,
though, for a ferret-wise vet's opinion. I'd get your
fuzzy to a vet if you are not yet certain on the inso
question.
Just an opinion.
