My vet used ketamine for a dental once (when my vet was new to the practice=
)
and my ferret took about 2 hours to come round and then she was wobbly on
her feet and disorientated all evening/ night long, it was really horrible
to see. I asked my vet to *never* use injectible anaesthetic on my ferrets=
,
only gas. When she did a gas anaesthetic, she was surprised how quickly an=
d
well the ferrets recovered and has been praising gas since. :-) She
intubates ferrets for dentals and longer operations (except for castrations=

which are so quick that she just uses a gas mask) so the gas is no problem.=

I heard the same things about ketamine that you did and would never use it
for an operation... Sounds horrible...
