It is my understanding that onions can cause the onset of hemolytic anemia-
not sure what the relation might be with the canine type.
We years ago had a ferret who LOVED onions carried them adn gnawed on them
like apples..... he was dead at age 3 with the hottest liver cancer Dr
Bruce Williams had reported seeing at that time.
Keep your ferrets away form onions is my best advice!
