I have a 5 1/2 year old ferret named Scout. The vet is pretty sure that Scout has an insulinoma. He has lost a significant amount of weight in the past month. he's down to 2.62 lbs but was pretty chubby when I adopted him. His dr said that the prednisone can cause this to happen (.3ml once a day), and has him on Totally ferret active food and 1/4 teaspoon of nutrical 4 to 5 times per day until his surgery. Unfortunatly, he still isn't putting anymore weight on. He doesn't like baby food i tried and he just walked away from it. Does anyone have any ideas for putting some weight back onto a ferret, or should I wait until after the surgery? Will his weight come back on its own after the surgery?
