Does the Vet you are seeing work with ferrets on a very regular basis??
If not please find a Vet that does- so many vets just are not very
interested in studying ferrets in depth. There are many ways to treat
ferrets that many vets just don't know and are too busy to learn.
There are some vets though that do work with ferrets and they keep up on
the current research findings- and new approaches to ferret disease and
treatment. You owe it to yourself and to Toby to find someone that will
just not hand you a diagnosis- did anyone offer to do an exploratory
(that is if he is a surgical candidate). Did anyone try to assess why
Toby could be bleeding internally? Yes they are telling you some scary
stuff but did they get down to any reasons WHY (and I don't mean a guess).

Sukie (who posts here often and is very helpful) offered up the
following listing to find a Vet. THANK YOU SUKIE

You can also ask regional clubs, look in magazines, and do Google searches.

I feel for you Dorrie-- I have an adrenal boy (Luke) who is 5. Been in and out of
the vets office alot- had a surgery done- he improved but now months later he is
in a decline. I will admit some days I am in despair or very distressed.
Then he will perk up a little bit and things will look better.

I hope the links can give you some help.

their is fluid in it, and by the way his blood count is 16, she says she feels a large
mass on his side, either his liver or possibly pancreas, she didnot give me much
hope for my poor Toby and his energy level is still very low. She seems to think he
will only be around for a few more days. Also says he is probably bleeding
internally. I need to know if their is anything else we can do? Is he suffering?
