Hello Jane-

Yes this is a mild reaction to the distemper shots. In the future please
make sure that they are treated BEFORE the vaccination with benedryl.

You can administer orally 1 cc of children's benedryl 20 mins prior to the
vaccination or ask the vet to administer it by injection. The future
vaccinations may prove to show a more escalated reaction.

The sleepiness for 1-2 days following can also be from the body reacting to
the vaccine. What type of CD vaccine was administered. Watch for fever and
non response... If you see either get to vets ASAP.
